The Government of Uganda has allocated over Shs 350 billion for the construction of roads in Wakiso district in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area-GKMA in the first half of the five-year period.
The priority roads include the Bukasa.Ssentema-Kakiri road which is more than 12 km long.
Naggalabi-Naasozi-Kitemu which is over 7 km long.
Add to that the other roads in Nansana Municipality such as Nansana-Wamala-Katooke-Jjinjakalooli which are more than 8 kilometers long and others.
According to Mayanja William, the district-Procurement Officer, everything is almost complete and he confirmed that by January next year, everything will be ready with the start of production.
The World bank confirmed that more than 3 billion ( 560 Dollars ) has already been sent to Uganda for the construction of several roads in Wakiso, Mpigi, Mukono and Kampala districts under the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area-GKMA, and is expected to start paving in January
The GKMA, Deputy Director of Operations and Labour, Ssalongo Kiwanuka Achilles, said they were awaiting the Solicitor General’s directive so that the work could start as the contractors had been selected.
