President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has signed nine bills into law awaiting implementation.
It includes a bill that removes the responsibilities of the Uganda National Roads Authority, transferring them to the Ministry of Transport and Roads.
Other laws include the Dairy Development Authority and the Cotton Development Authority, both of which were transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
The President also signed another Uganda Road Fund Act which transferred the powers of the agency to the Ministry of Transport and Roads.
Other laws signed include The High education Students Financing Act which abolished the High education students financing board, the responsibility of which was transferred to the Ministry of Education.
Another law established NITA-U, which was transferred to the Ministry of ICT and National Regulatory Affairs, but the transfer of the agency under the ministry will be done within three years as decided by parliament for ongoing projects faces.
The President, however, has not signed the rice bill, which parliament passed to abolish the right UCDA, and it is not clear whether he will return it to parliament for consideration or whether he still has questions.
