President Museveni commended for liberating the country

The Joint Security Forces led by the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) hailed President Museveni for liberating the country from poor leadership.

Led by UPDF, the Joint Security Forces observed this on 6th February 2024 as they joined the rest of the country to celebrate the 43rd annual and rotational Tarehe Sita Anniversary Celebrations to commemorate the founding of a Peoples’ Force.

The celebrations took place at Entebbe Mayors Gardens under the theme ” The Peoples’ Struggle for Unity, Security and peace for social-economic transformation”.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Commander Special Forces Command (SFC) Brig Gen David Busingyye Mugisha who officiated at the function thanked the President and Commander in Chief of the UPDF H.E Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for transforming the Army into a Peoples’ Force and liberating the country from poor leadership.

He noted that the Army’s Civil Military engagements in activities like offering free clinical services to civilians, cleaning of Entebbe and minor infrastructural works, among others; are all testament to the much needed desire to strengthen the strategic relationship between the Forces and the civilian population.

He added that bringing services nearer to people cements the army’s relationship with the people, adding that the ‘army comes from the people’, and after serving deligently ‘they go back to the people’.

Brig Gen Steven Kigundu the deputy Commander AirForces said UPDAF is an army without borders.
He lauded the UPDF for their dedicated service in securing the country and advised them to keep up the spirit.

The Entebbe Deputy RDC Mr Hakim appreciated President YK Museveni for the good leadership and the armed forces for their wonderful service that has made Entebbe more peaceful. He appreciated the clinical services from UPDF medics.

He called upon the civilian population to work with security forces in the maintenance of peace and stability.

The joint Security Forces cleaned Entebbe Municipality and surrounding areas, a symbolic act, aimed at giving back to the civilian population in honor of their outstanding contribution to the liberation struggle.

The main celebrations were held at Busesa, in Bugweri district. The function was also attended by UPDF Senior and Junior Officers and Men, political and religious leaders, and residents of the area.
