Kcca City Cleaners are protesting against the delay in paying their salaries for 8 months

The Kcca City Cleaners gathered at City Hall in protest at delayed payments of their wages and attempts to conscript them in to an Association against their will.

Addressing the demonstrating workers, the Lord Mayor stated that a great injustice is being occasioned on the workers by not only delaying their pay which is an entitlement, but also attempts at conscripting them in to an association against their will is a violation of their rights, adding that as head of the City Executive Committee, he proposed and Authority Council resolved to operationalize a reservation scheme in which the sanitation workers would legally operate under their registered SACCOs, independent of other association as a means to secure their employment but also provide welfare for the urban poor in the City.
