President Yoweri Museveni has resumed his Facebook page after three years of government shutdown in 2021 for bias.

The government shut down Facebook in Uganda after the closure of  National Resistance Movement party accounts by the  Facebook management who left opposition politicians’ accounts working during the January 2021 general elections.

The president’s Facebook account on Friday 16, 2024 showed photos of his visit to Gomba and Sembabule Districts where he had gone to monitor different government development projects.

This latest development gives hope to Facebook users in Uganda who have been using VPNs to access it since the closure, that the government could at any time re-authorize it to operate in the country officially.
